Red House Coffee Bar & Pizzeria

The hottest new place to grab a pizza has set tummies rumbling and tongues wagging.

Red House Coffee Bar & Pizzeria (previously Chordz) re-opened their doors a few weeks before Christmas. Named after a Jimi Hendrix song (as with the owner’s other restaurant, Crosstown), Red House continue to serve up their well-loved locally roasted ‘Rock Roasters’ coffee from as early at 7.30am Monday to Saturday.

The shelves are piled high with freshly baked pastries and the ever famous ‘mega-slab’ of banana bread, as well as a selection of freshly filled paninis, wraps, salad boxes and yogurt pots.

But, the real showstoppers here are the authentic Neapolitan style pizzas which have been flying out of the stunning Izzo oven. With reviews raising the roof and causing quite a stir, many have claimed the pizzas are better than recent trips to Italy!

The best seller so far has been the 'Fat Tony', a tomato-based pepperoni, chorizo & nduja topped pizza smothered in satisfyingly stringy mozzarella and finished off with a few green bell peppers for that crunch - chefs kiss.

The goat’s cheese & caramelised onion 'Hannahpadana' pizza and the burrata, nduja, hot honey & basil pizza, sweetly named after owner Charlie's daughter, 'Lil' Bill's Burrata' are undoubtedly the runners up in the top sellers! And dividing nations is the 'Krafty J's Special' which includes the controversial pineapple topping. Top tip with this one is to pair it with a can of 'Loco Juice' from neighbours over at craft beer & gin bar, Krafty J's. Speaking of beer & gin, another new instalment for Red House is their liquor license. Now you can settle in for the evening, enjoy your pizzas alongside a bottle of red or try their own popular Red House IPA, as well as many other tipples from the bar. They even have a large alfresco seating area with heated awnings so you outdoorsy, people-watching folk can comfortably dine outside year-round.

So, if you haven’t been yet, head to West Centre and follow your nose. The smell of these delicious and playfully named pizza’s will guide you to your table and you’ll be back for more, maybe even multiple times a week like most of their customers!

Walk ins are welcomed but you can also secure a table by phone and call to order your takeaway for collection 01534 735687.
