The Power of Red Light Therapy

Jane Rayner, recognised for her time on The Real Housewives of Jersey, has over a decade of experience in the beauty industry. Jane has recently brought the revolutionary Red Light Therapy Beds to Jersey.

Red Light Therapy (RLT) was originally developed in the '80s by NASA for plant growth experiments, but scientists made an accidental discovery that had profound implications for human health. Not only did the red LED wavelengths boost plant growth; lesions on the scientists’ skin began to heal faster because of exposure to the light.

HOW RLT WORKS

One of the primary effects of Red Light Therapy is that wavelengths of light are absorbed into mitochondria, which are “energy factories” inside cells. This stimulates mitochondria to produce more ATP, thereby increasing the cells’ ability to perform essential functions.

Since the 1980s, researchers have discovered some key properties that red light has on human health, including increased cellular metabolism, reduced inflammation, increased circulation, reduced oxidative stress, and accelerated recovery from injury. From NASA’s early research to now, LED technology has seen remarkable progress.

RLT BEDS

Whilst RLT has been widely used in medical circles to aid wound recovery, it is now used more commonly in cosmetic clinics and beauty salons due to its healing effect on the skin, and the fact that it comes with zero down time. The treatment itself is painless, and the light omits just a warm feeling to the skin - but leaves it with a visible bounce and inner glow.

Red light treatments improve skin tone and texture, control pigmentation spots, help shrink pores, make skin look brighter, healthier, and reduce wrinkles. Rejuvenating Red Light Therapy stimulates blood circulation and restores elastin fibres in tissues, helping to maintain skin elasticity.

Your skin will feel smoother almost immediately and further changes occur naturally with a few weeks of regular use. Everyone reacts differently, depending on age and skin condition. The recommended treatment plan is 3-4 days per week for 4-6 weeks. After the initial treatment regimen, it is recommended to continue 1-2 days per week.

Bronzed Angel

Jane Rayner, the founder of Bronzed Angel, said she first heard about Red Light Therapy more than a decade ago, and after extensive research, she was hooked. At the time, Red Light Therapy was a popular treatment in Europe, but it was virtually unheard of in the UK, leading Jane to launch her first salon and introduce the RLT beds.

In 2013, Bronzed Angel opened its doors in Market Harbourough, and has since seen a variety of clients, including professional sports players to help aid in recovery, customers wanting younger looking skin, as well as those with general aches and pains. The salon now boasts 8 RLT beds, proving just how effective the treatment is.

Fast forward 10 years, and Jane has now brought the popular treatment to Jersey. Bronzed Angel can be found in The Wellness Centre at Castle Quay.

A Three Stage Process to Younger Looking Skin

Revitalisation

With approximately 10 x 20 minutes over a period of 3-4 weeks, the metabolism is activated, the skin is detoxified, and the skin surface improves.

Regeneration

With approximately 20 x 20 minutes over a period of 5-7 weeks, impurities heal, the skin appears clearer, fresher and healthier, moisture content increases.

Retightening

With approximately 30 x 20 minutes over a period of 8-10 weeks the skin regains elasticity through stabilization of the collagen structure; lines and wrinkles are filled in.
